OtterBox

On the second episode of THE READ, after some quick follow up and chit chat about last week's episode, host Van Robichaux does an ad read for the heavy-duty phone accessory brand OtterBox

Welcome to The Read. I'm your host, Van Robichaux, and this is episode two. Today we've got another great ad read for you from a new sponsor, OtterBox. But before we get into that, I want to do a little recap of our first episode and share some reactions just chit chat with you for a minute before we get into that, last week our sponsor was Namecheap, which is a domain hosting and registration website. And I'm excited to announce that I had at least three people reach out to me and let me know that they had registered domains at van.link/namecheap as a result of the podcast and I actually got some analytics back from the Namecheap folks, and we had 97 clicks, which is, actually very good. And those clicks. Really, it means visits to podcast.link/namecheap and then the click through purchase rate for that was something about three and a half percent or so, which that all checks out two or three people making a purchase, the math kind of adds up there. So in addition to the money for the ad read, we here at The Read, just to give full transparency, did receive $8 and 97 cents commission on those three purchases. So something to remember is that the link is still live. You can still go to van.link/namecheap and buy a domain, buy website hosting buy any of their wonderful products. And even though the read is done and the fee is in our bank account, we are still eligible for commissions if you visit that link. Ad reads are the gift that keeps on giving.

The other piece of news is we made the podcast charts in our first episode. That's right. I was ranked 53rd in the Business (subcategory Marketing) podcast chart and you know, I didn't expect to chart the first week. I will say I did not pick comedy as my category. I picked business because one, I don't feel it's fair to the other comedy podcasts for me to try and compete directly with them. And two, I think that really what is the center of this podcast? The center of the podcast is ad reads. And ad reads mean business.

So speaking of that, let's get to that business OtterBox.

If you're anything like me, you're always dropping and breaking your phone. Now, something that often concerns people about me is that I don't use a phone case. What I personally do is I get Apple Care Plus insurance on my phone, and if it's busted up enough, I swap it out at the Apple Store--they charge me 30 bucks. I end up maxing that out by the time I'm ready to get a new phone. And actually, sometimes what I do is it's time to trade my phone in. They won't accept at Verizon a busted up phone and give me the full trade-in value. So I'll pay $30 to Apple Care to give it to them, fix the screen, fix the back, and then I'll take this fresh phone and trade that in for my next phone.
If you aren't like me and you think what I do, walking around with no case and just hoping Apple will fix it for me cheaply. If you think that's crazy, then you are going to need a case. You should get a case. And if you get a case, you should get that case from OtterBox. OtterBox. Keep your phone safe and secure no matter what life throws your way.

So that's it for today's read. And it had me thinking, breaking my phone was a big part of the genesis of this podcast. If I'd had OtterBox, I might've been able to save the original podcast recording and would've never pivoted to this, The Read. So something to keep in mind, if you don't like this podcast and you hate that, I do it, what you should do is you should go to van.link/otterbox and buy a revenge OtterBox today you can say if Van had done this, he wouldn't have this podcast. Never would've happened. So who knows, if you have an OtterBox, maybe you can stop me, so that's it. If you enjoyed today's episode, make sure to subscribe and leave a review. And if you buy an OtterBox at that link, please drop me an email and let me know so I can make sure to keep the sponsors honest.

You can email me at [email protected], or if you wanna tell me specifically you're emailing about OtterBox, go ahead and email me at [email protected] they all just go to me, it doesn't matter which one you send, they get sorted into different folders. So it matters a little bit, but it shouldn't matter to you anyway, I try to be organized, don't worry about it. , I think that about does it? Oh, I'd like to answer one listener question that I got. Someone asked me who the voice of the VAN BRAND audio signature that plays at the end of the episode is, and they thought it might be my good friend Mitch Mike Mitchell, and I hate to disappoint that listener, but I will disappoint them. The voice at the end of the podcast is not Mitch. The voice at the end is my voice. That is me, and you're gonna hear it right now.
